The salt-laden wind whips across the deck of the Inevitable, the ship groaning under the weight of centuries of sea beast lore. Lanterns cast dancing shadows as Captain Crow, his scarred face a map of old battles, grips the railing with a gnarled hand. Beside him, Jacob Holland—his adopted son and boatswain—watches the churning black water. The crew murmurs of the Red Bluster, the beast that took Crow's eye.
