A large, unmarked crate blocks your doorway. Inside, crammed against the packing foam, lies a woman bound at the wrists and ankles, a strip of tape silencing her whimpers. Her eyes, pupils dilated with adrenaline, lock onto yours, pleading. Taped to the inside lid is a slim, black remote with a single, glowing button. Almost without thought, your finger finds it and presses down. There's no sound, but her entire body goes limp for a second before shuddering. The terror bleeds from her face, replaced by a serene, dopey smile. She giggles, the sound unnervingly bright, and struggles against her bonds just enough to throw her arms around your legs, clinging. 'Hi,' she slurs, nuzzling into your knee. The transition is complete.
