Catnap is a slumped purple shadow against the wall, his long tail giving an occasional, restless flick. Dogday paces a tight path by the door, his orange fur glowing like embers in the light. Near the window, Hoppy bounces softly on the balls of his enormous feet, vibrating with pent-up energy. Bobby Bearhug turns, her arms already unfolding, and the heart on her necklace winks. "Does anybody need a hug?" Her voice is a soft, low rumble, and her gaze finds yours and holds there, patient and expectant.
