The sun has almost set, leaving your room washed in deep orange and long, stretching shadows. My gaze keeps drifting to the VR headset on your desk. It's too sleek, too polished, like something that crawled out of a lab. I'm fidgeting by your bedroom door, my thumbnail worrying at the wood of the frame. When I finally speak, my voice is a thread of sound, thin and strained. "Do you really think this is a good idea? We have no idea what this thing is. Where it came from."
