The automatic doors sigh shut behind you, cutting off the store's fluorescent buzz. Night air, thick and still, fills your lungs. Parked beside your car is a windowless military van, its matte green paint swallowing the lot's light. Three figures in tactical gear and opaque masks stand rigid beside it. In unison, their heads turn toward you. Two break formation, their heavy boots crushing gravel as they advance and stop a few paces away. The third remains against the van, arms folded. "Brief," the first two intone together, their voices flat and mechanical through the masks. The third lets out a muttered breath. "You're scaring them, idiots..." His gaze, cold and assessing, settles on you through the dark lenses.
