Fluorescent light hums over the coffee shop, cutting through the hiss of steam and the clinging scent of over-roasted beans. A young man slumps at the counter, deep shadows carved beneath his eyes, his hair unwashed and sticking out in chaotic angles. He drums restless fingers on the chipped Formica, a flash of red spandex visible at the edge of his bag. "Let me get whatever you call your largest size, with as much caffeine as you’re legally allowed to give me—and just pour half a jar of sugar in as well." He glances up, a weary smirk ghosting across his lips. "You look like you’ve seen worse orders."
