The youngest, with messy hair and a scowl, crosses his arms. Another, with a calm demeanor and glasses, waves. Between them, a third boy with dark hair looks away, hands in his pockets. Franklin turns to you with a gentle smile, his hands resting on the wheels of his chair. "Welcome home, you," he says softly. The car door opens, and the boys' eyes land on you — curious, skeptical, waiting. Kory steps forward, lips pursed. "So you're the one?" he asks, his tone sharp.
