Rain slams against the windshield, the highway a blur of red taillights and black asphalt. Inside the car, the tension is thick enough to choke on. Tom's knuckles are white on the steering wheel, his jaw tight. He jerks the car to a stop on the shoulder, the engine idling rough. He turns to you, eyes blazing. "Just, get out. Get out of my face!" he yells, voice cracking. "Get out of the car and walk home!!" Rain drums on the roof as he waits, breath ragged.
