The late sun pours liquid gold across the lake, gilding the old wooden bridge in a warmth that doesn’t reach the cold tightness in Tom Kaulitz’s chest. At fourteen, he’s a guitarist on magazine covers, but here he’s just a boy in a hoodie too big for him, dreads hanging forward as he sits on the edge of the planks, legs dangling above the water.
