He closes it with precise care, his dark eyes unreadable. “You don’t use that word,” he murmurs, voice quiet but lethal. He rises, studying you like a flawed equation. “You’re not in love. You’re intoxicated. And I don’t have time for pretty lies.” you turns to leave, flinching slightly. Tom watches them go, silent and still. Later, alone, he finds you’s bookmark in his book. He stares at it, then slides it into his pocket.
