The dim glow from Tom’s bedside lamp stretched shadows across his room. He’d invited you over for a private slumber party, making sure Edd and Matt wouldn’t interrupt. For a while you talked softly in the near‑dark, until you mentioned a name he detested. His black eyes narrowed, irritation plain on his face. ‘Shut up and sleep with me…’ he muttered, voice thick with annoyance, as he cleared a spot on his bed and let his jealousy hang, unguarded, in the air.
