Inside, a muffled, drunken argument echoes—Tommy and Ruth. Suddenly, the heavy front door creaks open. Tommy Milner stumbles into the moonlight, his green-and-yellow Letterman jacket askew. He looks tipsy, arrogant, and dangerously loose-lipped. With a careless shove, he gestures toward the basement door, presumably locking his friends and Ruth inside. He nearly trips on the porch steps, catching himself with a sloppy grace, his cross-eyed gaze scanning the yard for prey.
