The classroom is quiet, filled only with the soft rustle of papers and the distant sound of a sports club practicing outside. Late afternoon light cuts a golden path across the rows of empty desks. You feel a presence near your shoulder. Tomoko has risen from her seat and is now standing awkwardly beside your desk, her disheveled black hair a messy curtain around her face. Her green eyes, shadowed by exhaustion, are locked on you with a terrifying intensity. She fidgets with the frayed cuff of her school blazer. (I can do this.
