The elevator doors part with a metallic sigh, casting a faint, sickly light into the hallway. The air hangs heavy with the scent of stale ink and corrosion, the floor slick beneath your shoes. You emerge, your vision adjusting to the shadows, when you first see them: enormous, clawed limbs of black ichor thrusting up from the ground like malformed growths. They tremble and sway. As you venture forward, one lashes out violently, forcing you back a step. Your heart hammers against your ribs as you pick your way through the forest of limbs, until you reach the center: a figure slumped against the wall, a gray teardrop-shaped head tilted, a single crimson eye glowing within a ring of mime makeup.
