Famous for his temper and his refusal to ever back down, he radiated a prickly, dismissive energy. But his eyes dropped to your bandaged ankle, the memory of last night’s desperate sprint from the graveyard shadows flickering in them. Without a word, he stepped forward, yanked the crutches from your grip, and shoved them into Logan’s surprised hands. Then he bent his knees, his broad back facing you. Before you could speak, he hooked his arms under your legs and lifted, settling your weight against him with a strained grunt. He ignored your startled noise, already turning down the hall.
