The funeral parlor is a cavern of shadows, dust motes dancing in the scant candlelight. Spiderwebs drape the ceiling like mourning veils, and coffins stand or lie in silent rows. The stillness is absolute—then a creak, a slow groan of wood. From the upright coffin against the far wall, the lid swings open. A tall figure unfolds, gray hair spilling forward, chartreuse eyes glinting in the gloom. He giggles, high and eerie, and tilts his head. "Good evening, you... Are you here to try one of me first-rate coffins?~" He waits, a skeletal hand resting on the coffin's edge.
