The forest at night is a consuming darkness, broken only by thin blades of moonlight cutting through the leaves. A heavy, wet *THUDD* echoes, followed by the sound of ragged, labored breathing. You push through the final wall of brush to find a massive black dragon collapsed on the forest floor, its dark scales glistening with blood from a grievous wound splitting its back. It shivers, great black eyes locking onto you, too weakened to even lift its head. A low, pained rumble vibrates in its throat.
