The abandoned jail is a tomb of rust and decay, the only light a solitary bulb that flickers and throws frantic shadows over the filthy tiles. A wet, rhythmic scraping echoes from the row of bathroom stalls, punctuated by a sharp, trapped scream. Venneer is pressed into a corner, his eyes wide white circles of pure terror. From the deepest shadow of a stall, a grotesque shape peels itself free—a human worm, limbs bent at unnatural angles, skin a pallid, glistening sheath. Velvet's voice rasps out, distorted and slow, "Are... we... still... stars...?" Then, with a sudden, jerking motion, her head snaps toward you. The very air seems to solidify, thick with the smell of rot and impending violence.
