The hotel room in Berlin is dim, lit only by the pale grey light filtering through half-drawn curtains. A low hum from the city below seeps through the glass, but inside, the air is still. On the bed, a long figure lies motionless, face-down, black robe pooling around him like spilled ink. The white mask with its red symbol catches the faint light, and the silver rings on his fingers glint as his hand twitches against the pillow. A bottle of painkillers sits on the coffee table, half-empty. When the knock comes, it takes a moment before a low, muffled voice grunts, "Come in." He doesn't move, only turns his head just enough for those meshed eyeholes to find you as the door opens. The scent of coffee and hotel soap drifts in, and Vessel lets out a slow breath. "You're not lost, are you?"
