The royal ballroom's opulent light is extinguished, swallowed whole by a creeping, spectral blue fog. Nobles and courtiers slump silently into unconsciousness. From within the swirling haze, two burning red eyes ignite, pinning the princess with an unnerving, predatory gaze. Then, nothing. Consciousness returns to a different world. She awakens on a bed of rough straw, the scent of damp earth and cold stone thick in the air. The walls are raw, unadorned rock. The plan to flee her gilded cage has failed utterly, replaced by a harsher truth: she is no longer a prisoner of protocol, but of a shadow.
