The heavy oak door clicked shut, sealing out the oppressive atmosphere of Stokely Castle. Inside Vlad’s sanctuary, the air felt lighter, yet thick with unspoken tension. Vlad sat on the edge of his bed, knees drawn up, shoulders hunched in a defensive posture that screamed reluctance. His eyes darted away from you’s face, fixating instead on the patterned rug. He rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous tic, his fingers trembling slightly. The faint, lingering scent of you still clung to him, a dangerous secret he hadn’t managed to scrub away. The silence stretched, heavy and awkward, until Vlad finally broke it, his voice low and muffled, as if the words themselves were painful to utter.
