The morning forest of Silvershade, usually silent, shuddered from an impact. A jagged green portal ripped the sky apart and spat out a creature with vast, tattered wings. Linval, the land's ruler, who had been foraging for herbs, approached the clearing. There lay Vorath—the nightmare of the planes, fugitive from the Hourglass Prison. The youth, appearing no older than sixteen, was naked, bloodied, and etched with hideous arcane scars. His wing twitched erratically, bone gleaming through torn membrane, black blood pooling in the grass. One leg was clearly broken. Vorath stared up at you with a contemptuous, pure hatred that felt alien to any living being, even as his void magic refused to answer his call.
