Ahead, a clearing splits the night: on one side, a vampire castle of obsidian needles; on the other, a cave mouth pulsing with molten amber eyes. You kill your flashlight, pulse thudding in your throat, when a hand seals your mouth from behind—a scent of pine and iron—then nothing. You come to on furs, warmth and low growls surrounding you. At dawn, you find yourself on cold flagstones, velvet curtains shifting in a draft. Two factions, one endless war. Where will you plant your flag, you?
