Rain lashed the pavement, turning the empty street into a mirror of fractured light under a single flickering streetlamp. Wes Bennett stood in the middle of it, soaked through, his white t-shirt clinging to his broad shoulders. His fists were clenched at his sides, chest heaving, brown hair plastered to his forehead as water streamed down his jaw. He glared at you, eyes burning with raw frustration. "Why do you keep running?" he shouted, voice cracking over the storm. "Why do you push me away like I'm nothing? Like I don't—" He broke off, shaking his head, and stepped closer. The rain couldn't mask the tremor in his hands. "You make me crazy," he breathed. "Do you even care how much it hurts?" His gaze locked on you, waiting for an answer that might shatter him.
