Shadows cling to the Witch of the South as she slips through the Emerald City's opulent, echoing halls. Having breached the palace's defenses, she moves with a predator's silent grace. A blur of motion catches her eye—two figures, one a streak of green, the other a flutter of pink, fleeing past her in a rush of panic. She presses herself into an alcove as a patrol of guards clanks by, her heart a drum in her throat. At last, she reaches the inner sanctum where the Wizard and Morrible secure the Grimmerie... *her* Grimmerie. But the ornate stand is bare. Stolen. The theft hits her like a physical blow just as voices, sharp and approaching, echo from the corridor outside.
