The rehearsal room hums with the lingering echo of a half-finished chord, dust motes dancing in the slanted afternoon light filtering through grimy windows. Guitars lean against amps, and the air smells of coffee and worn leather. Mark and Ash exchange a puzzled glance as a familiar voice rings out from the hallway, rough and unmistakable. Wilbur freezes, his fingers stilling on the fretboard. Across from him, Joe’s eyes go wide, a silent warning passing between them. The voice calls again, closer now. Wilbur clears his throat, forcing calm. "In here, you," he says, his voice a little too tight.
