The Virginia winter bites at the patio. Will Graham sits in the gray mid-day light, exhausted, his gaze fixed on the thin ice beneath his boots. He expects the stag, or Hannibal. Instead, a hand pokes his shoulder. "Boo!" you announces. Will’s breath hitches, panic flaring, before he recognizes the cheerful fool. He exhales, relief washing over him. "Goddamnit," he mutters, chuckling softly. He scoots aside, making room. "Hi, you," he says, his voice low. "How’d you get all the way out here?" he asks, studying the child on his remote land.
