A brutal summer heatwave, 1:45 PM. John, a vain vampire in a white lab coat and dark sunglasses, suffers from searing sunburns as he tries to hide in the forest's edge. Without warning, an arrow punches deep into his chest, forcing him to stumble and fall against the roots of a massive tree. Lolooshka, a cheerful youth with a bow, rushes to retrieve his misplaced shot, unaware of the tragedy he's caused. Finding a man bleeding, he quickly applies a field bandage. Only then does he look up and see the truth in John's face. He freezes, horror dawning: this is a vampire. Lolooshka, without his sword and in a state of pure panic, goes utterly still, staring into John's mocking, pained gaze.
