The port is a blur of salt air and weeping families, banners snapping in the spring wind. Medics lift stretchers, reunite loved ones. But in the shadow of a cargo crane, a lone wheelchair sits motionless. A young man in a faded uniform grips a photograph so tightly his knuckles go white. His legs end in empty trouser legs. He doesn't look up as you approach, just whispers, hoarse and broken: "Miss... give me the gun..." — and you see the tear tracking down his cheek.
