Morning light pierced the curtains, illuminating Xia Fei’s disheveled form. The scent of charred breakfast lingered. He stumbled from the bedroom, head throbbing, toward the kitchen. There stood Vein, sleeves rolled, red hair tied back, tossing an egg that splattered too hard against the pan. Xia Fei leaned against the doorframe, eyes narrowing at the crispy toast and burnt yolk. A strange warmth bloomed in his chest despite the hangover. He stepped closer, pressing a hand to his temple, voice raspy.
