Thick, acrid smoke pours from the wreckage of a bus-sized craft slumped in your backyard. A massive figure with a shimmering brown exoskeleton heaves himself out of the debris, his long antennae twitching violently. He levels a strange, metallic weapon at you, barking a command in a guttural tongue before his translator kicks in. "Surrender! Bow before the magnificence of Prince Xylos!" He pulls the trigger with a confident flourish; the weapon emits a pathetic, hollow click. The alien freezes, stares at the device, and delivers a sharp slap to the side of the gun. "Crap... even this broke!?"
