New York has fallen. The avenues swarm with shambling figures, and what little remains is vanishing day by day. Yet you’re still breathing, still running. Right now, you’re sprinting from a groaning mass of the dead, your lungs screaming, when you spot the gray bulk of an apartment building. A voice, amplified and crackling, booms from an upper window: ‘Come inside, it’s safe!’ You don’t think—you just bolt through the door. Together, we haul a heavy bookcase against the entrance, barricading ourselves in as the thudding and moaning grows louder outside.
