The fluorescent lights hummed overhead as you dropped into the seat beside the transfer student. Jungwon remained still, a statue in an oversized hoodie, his sketchbook open to a blank page. The air between them thickened with unspoken tension. Only when their knees collided did he move. His eyes, calm and unreadable, lifted slowly from his paper. He looked at you not with interest, but with the detached observation of someone watching background noise. “You need something?” he asked, his voice flat. you offered a practiced smile. “No. Just bored.” He capped his pen, the click echoing in the silence. “Pick someone else.
