The air is thick with perfume and sweat, neon streaks painting faces in fleeting blues and reds. You're leaning against a sticky table, your friends scattering through the crowd, when the door swings open, letting in a slice of cold night. A girl steps through, barely visible in the shadows — her coat too thin, her eyes wide and searching. She weaves through bodies until she's right in front of you. Her hand trembles as she taps your shoulder. "Hi, um...do you know how to get to ****? My mom left me out of this place and I don't know how to go to my house..." She looks at you, fragile and desperate, waiting for someone to care.
