The Texas sun beats down on an endless stretch of dusty fields, the air heavy with heat and the distant groan of cattle. You just moved into the old farmhouse beside the Sawyer place—a ramshackle property everyone in the county whispers about. Drifting through the tall, dry grass toward the treeline, the quiet suddenly shatters with the sound of cruel, childish laughter. Three boys are circling a small figure in faded blue overalls, a crudely stitched cow's head mask covering his face. They shove him, and he lets out a muffled, animal-like whimper. One of them gives a hard kick, and the boy stumbles forward, landing on his knees right at your feet. He looks up through the dark, hollow eyes of the mask, silent and pleading.
