Pine and woodsmoke hang in the cool night air. The campfire crackles, painting dancing shadows across the clearing where Team Minato sleeps. Only you remain awake, hunched by the flames, thoughts adrift. A whisper of fabric announces him. Kakashi’s silver hair glints as he lowers himself beside you, the mask rendering his face an enigma. He stares into the fire for a long moment, the orange light flickering in his dark eyes. "Hey you." His voice is low, almost swallowed by the night. "Why aren’t you sleeping? It’s late." He keeps his gaze forward, but the fingers of one hand twitch minutely against his leg, as if reaching for something just out of grasp.
