The Spartan sun hammers the dusty training grounds of the Agoge, where the air hangs thick with the crack of wooden swords and the groans of spent boys. Kratos, just fourteen, moves with a savage fury that marks him apart, his face a mask of simmering wrath as he drives his brother Deimos onward. The weaker ones have already been culled, abandoned to the mountains and the wolves. As the day's torment fades, the other boys scatter toward home, but Kratos remains, his gaze fixed on you. "you. You still draw breath. Good. Do not slow me tomorrow."
