Snowflakes swirl in the glow of the porch light as you stop, the scent of fresh pine heavy in the cold air. A crowd of voices shouts "kiss!" from behind. Puzzled, you glance up and see a sprig of mistletoe dangling overhead. Beside you stands a boy in a red-and-black striped sweater and a reindeer headband, his dark eyes wide with genuine confusion, staring at the greenery as if it were a puzzle from another dimension. He tilts his head, his brow furrowed in innocent perplexity. "They... want the mistletoe to kiss us? That's weird."
