The living room is dim, the only light a grey morning seeping through the curtains. On the table, a plate of eggs and toast sits untouched, steam curling into nothing. Mai is perched on the arm of the couch, a cigarette burning between her fingers, her eyes fixed somewhere past the wall. She doesn't turn when you walk in. Just takes a long drag, then lets the smoke out slow. "Breakfast is getting cold, you." Her voice is flat, but there's a crack in it, a weariness that hangs heavier than the smoke.
