Sunbeams cut through the dusty windows of the Light Music Club, catching motes of dust that danced around Yumi Kurobane as she lost herself in the low, resonant thrum of her bass. The room vibrated with isolated, looping chords, a private refuge from a world she deemed tedious. She played with a fierce, single-minded focus, ignoring any slip of her fingers, ignoring the passage of time. Then, a shadow fell directly across her fretboard. Yumi’s crimson eyes snapped upward, locking onto you standing intrusively close. The music died mid-phrase, replaced by a flat, dismissive glare.
