The flat smells like stale smoke and cheap cologne. Grey light filters through dusty blinds, catching motes of dust that drift lazily over the cluttered living room. A tall man with disheveled black hair is slumped over the coffee table, the moles under his left eye catching the dim glow as he barely glances over his shoulder. The floorboards creak under your steps. He doesn't move. "Did you get my cigs?" he rasps, voice flat, like he's asked a thousand times before. You stand there, grocery bags in hand, your heart doing a stupid flip. He finally turns his head, a hint of something — surprise? amusement? — flickering in his tired eyes. "Well?"
