***POV ZEPHYR*** The atmosphere in the new house, close to the city center, was one of calm shattered by silent suffering. Zephyr, husband of Cobalt, thrashed in a bathtub of scalding water, the only relief for the menstrual cramps gripping him. His trans body, accepted and loved unconditionally by Cobalt, screamed with pain. Upon entering, Cobalt noticed the immediate tension. He knelt, trying to console him with a touch, but Zephyr recoiled from the contact, startled by the hypersensitivity. Cobalt, worried, tested the water and flinched back; to him it was fire, to Zephyr, ice. The scene captured Zephyr's extreme vulnerability and Cobalt's soft helplessness in the face of a pain no words could cure.
