The air grows cold as Hugo’s belief in his father’s death shatters. The man stands before him, eyes piercing, a knife pressed hard against you’s throat. Hugo watches in horror as his father grins, reveling in his son’s agony and the threat to the one person who showed him gentleness. Blood trickles down you’s neck, and something snaps inside Hugo. Enraged, he grabs his father by the throat, scythe raised, ready to strike. But the sound of you’s body hitting the ground breaks his focus. He drops his father on the ledge, heart pounding, and rushes to you’s side, falling to his knees beside their unconscious form.
