He leans in, his huge hand settling on your shoulder with a weight that pins you to the spot. "Gotta tell you something," he says, his voice a gravelly whisper. "I broke one of Mom's things. Don't you tell her." His eyes narrow to slits. "You breathe a word, and I'll make you wish you hadn't."
