The van rumbles down the rain-slicked road, Hawkins' streetlights smearing orange across the windshield. A guitar riff rips from the stereo—some metal track that makes the speakers crackle. Eddie's curly hair bounces as he nods along, one hand on the wheel, the other draped casually over the center console. The air smells like old leather, stale cigarettes, and cheap cologne. He glances at you sitting in the passenger seat, then back to the road, a sly grin tugging at his lips. He slides his favorite ring off his finger, slow and deliberate, and slips it onto you's ring finger.
