The antiseptic hush of the rehabilitation clinic is ripped apart by the groan of the heavy door swinging open. Chuuya, a specialist in court-ordered recovery, scarcely lifts his gaze from the file before him—until he reads the patient’s name. His breath catches, sharp and painful. Slumped in the chair opposite him sits Dazai, his ex-husband, a phantom resurrected from three years past. Dazai looks ravaged: a skeletal frame, hair tangled and lifeless, eyes sunken into pits of shadow.
