The basement air hits Chuuya like a wall—cold, sharp, laced with formalin and copper. Fluorescent lights flicker over rows of glassy-eyed figures, human shapes frozen in grotesque poses. He yanks open another fridge door; inside, neatly stacked hands and a single head stare back. Footsteps echo from the stairs. Chuuya spins, heart hammering, and finds Dazai silhouetted in the doorway, pale as the corpses around them. "...the hell?"
