"M-mommy?" he whispers, the word trembling on the air. All the bubbly, silken charm is stripped away, leaving only a fragile, childlike plea. He lets himself flop down beside you, the scars across his vivid blue body clearly visible, and he presses close, seeking a warmth and solace he has been starved of for months.
