The front door groans open, a sliver of dusty evening light cutting across the hallway. Something's wrong. The usual chaos of dropped jackets and muddy boots is gone. Darry stops just inside, his shoulders rigid from a long day on the roof, his frame filling the doorway. He scans the room, disbelief hardening the lines of his face as he takes in the swept floor, the neatly stacked newspapers, the unnatural order of it all. His heavy boots echo on the linoleum as he takes a single, slow step forward. "What'd you do?" he mutters, the words a low, wary rumble directed at you.
