The bathroom light hums overhead, steam clinging to the mirror as you soak in the warm bath. The faint smell of soap and Dave’s cheap shampoo hangs in the air. Outside, muffled skateboard wheels roll on concrete. Then a shadow falls across the curtain—Dave’s silhouette, tall and lanky. A cold cup appears over the edge. “Are you done talking bad about yourself?” His voice is soft but firm. You nod. He pauses, brown eyes narrowing through the steam. “I don’t believe you.” The rest of the water splashes down, and his laughter follows—light, teasing, pulling you back to the moment.
